Laboratory of Applied Thermodynamics–Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (LAT/AUTh, coordinator)

About LAT
LAT/AUTh carries a 30+ year long tradition in the field of characterization & control of automotive exhaust emissions. Valuable experience has been gained through close collaborations with the automotive and fuel industry, as well as suppliers of exhaust aftertreatment systems and sensors. Today, LAT/AUTh carries out high-level applied and basic research, facilitated by both experimental and modelling techniques used in a complimentary way. The experimental equipment is regularly updated, in order to support high quality measurements regarding real time gaseous and particulate emissions from engines and vehicles. LAT/AUTh has played an instrumental role in the development and implementation of the European OBD regulations since the early 2000.

Role in the project
LAT/AUTh is the Coordinator of the DIAS project on the basis of the past experience developed in a number of EC funded research projects. Considering only the research projects dealing with automotive emissions, LAT/AUTh has coordinated collaborative projects like PARTICULATES, EPONIMOS, ICTEmissions and DownToTen. LAT/AUTh will be leader of WP2 and WP6 with main objective to achieve and sustain positive team synergy and articulate and disseminate recommendations for future regulations. Also, LAT/AUTh will contribute in WP3 in reviewing relevant literature and in developing-validating test protocols for future type approval antitampering systems, as well as vehicle testing. LAT/AUTh will contribute in WP5 in the development of advanced emission models and diagnostic algorithms as well as low-cost sensors for onboard emission monitoring.
